Pumpkin Run
This weekend was the Pumpkin Run at our local YMCA. There was a one mile Fun Run for the kids then a 5K for the serious runners. Don’t think there were not some serious kids out there too! They hung in there with their parents. Some actually beat the parents. It was pretty cool when they came across the finish line together as a team. Blue Flour was ready with mini chocolate chip cookies for the kids after the finish. Congratulations to everyone that participated, including my very own competitive kids!
USC Farmer’s Market
We participated in the University of South Carolina Farmer’s Market sponsored by the SC Department of Agriculture. As you can see, we brought our friend Dracula to help sell our Halloween/Fall hand decorated sugar cookies. Some of the other products that were being sold at the Market were natural soaps, candles, organic produce, local honey, artisan bread, and other baked goods. We were definitely in good company.
Zoofari
Our family has always been supporters of our local zoo. It is an amazing place to visit! When we were asked for a special cookie basket for this years ZOOfari; we were happy to provide a basket full of hand decorated sugar cookies and our famous classic chocolate chip cookies . The proceeds benefit such a worthy cause.
This year’s proceeds from ticket sales, donations, auction items and additional sponsorships will be used to build an African Discovery Center. The center will serve to further educate and increase awareness of regional and international conservation efforts. Rare auction items include an opportunity to feature your child or grandchild on the cover of Riverbanks magazine, a candlelight dinner surrounded by graceful giraffes, and personal and interactive behind-the-scenes opportunities throughout the Zoo.
How cool! Mark it on your calendar for next year. It is full of food and fun and a chance to bid on “not so rare” Blue Flour cookies!
Wedding in Maine
We met a wonderful family in February 2007 on a trip to New York. Kim, the daughter, who lives in California, was planning her wedding for October 2008. Her Mom recently emailed us that she would like decorated sugar cookie favors for Kim’s wedding.
We were happy to bake for this special occasion!
A formal wedding was being planned in Maine overlooking the water. How beautiful! The colors for the wedding are shades of blue with a touch of silver and burgundy. The three tiered wedding cake sugar cookies were kept simple and elegant. Each cookie was personalized with Kim and her new husband’s name, John. They were individually wrapped and tied with a silver ribbon, then carefully packaged and shipped to Maine. We are happy to hear that the 60 pounds of cookies arrived safe and sound.
Best wishes to the entire family.
Spooky Sleepover
Happy 14th Birthday Caitlin! Caitlin loves decorated sugar cookies and wanted to share them with her friends for her spooky sleepover party tonight.
When we first started planning her birthday favors, we were going to bake and decorate sugar cookie dresses. When Caitlin saw the Halloween cookies, she wanted those instead! It was the perfect choice for an October Birthday! We did some different shapes, colors and styles to surprise Caitlin, and personalized each one with her friends names. Her little brother was able to snag a few too!
We hope that Mom will be able to get some sleep tomorrow, ’cause the girls are going to be up all night!
Little Gymnast
Happy Birthday Emily!
Emily and many of her friends had a fun gymnastics birthday party today! The sugar cookies were baked and decorated to match her red, white and blue gymnastics leotard. They were individually wrapped and tied with a red and white star ribbon. She gave them to all of her guests as favors after the party.
