
I’ve always baked purely for the love of baking. Creating fun, exciting
and delicious baked goods that make people happy makes
me
happy.
I grew up in Syracuse, NY (Fayetteville-Manlius, NY, to be exact) and
have wonderful memories of our neighborhood bakery and their incredible
creations. In fact, my three brothers and I still reminisce about how
exciting it was to get that Saturday afternoon box of fresh bakery
goods. Inevitably that leads to talking about how handmade, quality
baked goods are so hard to find today.
My grandmother was always an inspiration -- even though she never
baked. But oh, how she loved to eat sweets. I would bake for her every
chance I had, despite the fact that my mom and grandmother made fun of
my left-handed stirring. Thank goodness for electric mixers.
Fast-forward an undisclosed number of years. My professional life has been in restaurants, catering and sales. I’ve always loved to be around food and eat food. So, my next step was to start my own company. More specifically, a baking company.
But first I had to do some testing. It’s the usual story; girl brings
cookies to birthday parties, baby showers, tailgating parties. Girl
gives as teacher and thank you gifts. Girl gets more requests for cookies. Girl learns a friend hides cookies under his bed so he doesn't have to share. It was then I knew I had something really good.
So, I started “doorstep deliveries.” In the evenings I’d put a new
creation on the doorstep of family, friends and neighbors. Then I’d call
and say, “doorstep delivery!” After all, if I wanted to start my own
company, I needed feedback. Who better to give you constructive
criticism than your friends and family? Thanks to their brutally honest
comments, there’s now a fine selection of cookies for everyone to enjoy.
And that’s how Blue Flour was born. It’s a company that was started
solely to create quality, best-baked goods made with the finest
ingredients. You’ll love all our classics, but be sure and try our truly unique flavors as well. You can be sure you’re getting pure handmade goodness right from scratch.
